This is really a terrible idea. As explained from the article, anyone who reclaims the old email can use it to do password resets to accounts where that email is used. Yahoo needs to reconsider this.

I guess a lot of people are no longer using their Yahoo email because they switched to Google Mail? Although I understand the point why some people are concerned. Anyone who re-claims that dormant account can do password resets. Specially, if those other accounts are sending system mails to them.
