Late night TV host Jimmy Kimmel has been announced to host the 2017 Oscars. The "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" host representative for Kimmel confirms the news.
This news comes just months after Kimmel earned largely positive reviews for his job as host of the 2016 Emmy Awards. This will be Kimmel's first time hosting the Oscars. Though, he's anything but a surprise choice, having hosted the American Music Awards multiple times for his home network.
The nominees will be announced January 24, 2017. The Academy Awards will air on February 26, 2017 on ABC channel.
