'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' made a huge opening weekend with $170.1 million total in North America. This is a record-breaking number for March weekend opening despite being panned by critics.
This estimated total also represents the biggest opening for 2016. It is the largest opening in Warner Bros. history, and the 6th highest domestic opening weekend in box office history.
'Batman v Superman' is the movie that will launch the DC Cinematic Universe. Starring Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman, the movie gave a glimpse of some of the popular characters in DC comics. Wonder Woman portrayed by Gal Gadot was seen more on this movie is also coming up with her own movie.
The film opened in 66 markets this weekend, including China, and made an impressive $424.1 million globally. That's the 4th biggest worldwide opening ever.
